Diabetic Clinic
Our diabetic clinic is for all diabetics treated with diet only, diet and medication or Insulin. We aim to see every diabetic at least once a year. Newly diagnosed diabetics receive education and information and we aim to provide up to date care and support on all aspects of living with diabetes.
Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT)
IGT is used to describe the stage between not having diabetes and developing diabetes, otherwise known as pre-diabetes. At the clinic, we will monitor your blood sugars, blood pressure & weight once a year , and give you support and advice. Our aim is to stop you getting diabetes.
Hypertension Clinic
Our Hypertension (blood Pressure) clinic is run by our Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants. All patients seen in this clinic should be reviewed once a year.
To get an accurate measure we may ask you to:
- Record your own Blood pressure at home (we will provide you with a form to put your readings on and a leaflet explaining how to do this and what type of machine to use).
Or
- We may need to monitor your blood pressure over 24 hrs. You will wear the monitor on a belt for 24 hours and we can see your blood pressure over this time.
Respiratory Clinics
Our respiratory clinics cover common conditions, such as asthma and pulmonary disease. There are over 3 million in the UK diagnosed with this.
It is essential to have a respiratory appointment at least once a year, even though you may feel well, to inform you of new treatments and advice.
Coronary Heart Disease (CHD)
We run cardiac clinics where all patients who have had a heart attack or have angina (in addition to normal appointments that they may attend) are invited to see the Nurse Practitioner. In this clinic patients are given all the relevant tests they need and can discuss what they can do to reduce their risk of having a further event.
A full medication review is done at that time.
