In February, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advised a spring dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as a precaution to those at extremely high risk, most of whom received their first booster around 6 months ago.
Who will be offered the spring booster?
adults aged 75 years and overresidents in care homes for older adultsindividuals aged 12 years and over who are immunosuppressed, as defined in the Green Book
The NHS will contact those who are eligible to make a spring booster appointment, so people should wait until they hear from the NHS.
The NHS will prioritise those whose clinical need is greatest, as it has throughout, starting with those who have had a bigger gap since their last dose, then working through the cohort to invite others who have waited less time.
Everyone who is eligible will be offered a booster between three and six months over the Spring and early Summer.
Covid-19 Vaccinations for 5-11 Year Olds
The NHS is offering Covid-19 vaccinations to all children aged 5 to 11 years old. However, this surgery is not currently offering jabs to children of this age. But there are many other options available to get this vaccine locally.
Experts have advised that parents of all children aged 5 to 11 years should be offered the chance to have their child vaccinated.
You can therefore book an appointment online at another local vaccination site, through the National Booking Service, or by calling 119 to make a booking. The closest GP Practice vaccination site for you to get your 5-11 year old vaccinated is the Middlewood GP Practice in Poynton. You can email them directly at: [email protected]
